How do I backup the Standards Manager?

How to back up your data

To prevent accidental loss of data, the primary user’s data and attachments should be backed up to an external storage media (e.g. CD, Tape, USB Drive, Server) regularly. Note that the Standards Manager does not relocate any of your attachments.  They remain where you have saved them and must be backed up from those locations.

To back up your Standards Manager data, you can use either of the following methods:

§       To make a copy of your data, copy the folder “C:\Program Files\Morning Sun\CARF Standards Manager” and its subfolders to an external storage media. This does not backup your attachments.

To backup the Standards Manager data and a copy of your linked files:

§       Use the Package Data tool to create a backup copy of your data and attachments.  Then copy the data package, and its sub-folders, to an external storage media

How to create a data package

To create a data package:

1.     From the Tools menu, select Package Data.

A prompt is displayed to select a folder in which to place the data package. You can select an existing folder or create a new folder.

2.     Select the folder and click OK.

A confirmation prompt is displayed.

3.     Verify the folder location and click OK.

The data and attachments will be copied to the specified folder, and a message that the data was packaged successfully will be displayed.

The data package process will notify you at its completion. If there are an issues, a list of messages will be displayed. Messages may include issues such as attachments that could not be found and were not copied or attachments that refer to the same document more than once will only be copied once and therefore produce a message saying that the file already exists and was not copied a second time.
